Arrived at Sinclair Lewis City Park (just off Main Street in Sauk Centre, the subject of Sinclair Lewis' classic "Main Street"). The park was very nice, situated on Sauk Lake, which is fairly narrow (about a mile wide), and seven miles long. Myrna (who is Rose's good friend and former business partner who now owns and manages Rose Incentives, Rose's old business) has her cabin just up the lake, which made it easy for us to dock their pontoon boat at the city docks and give the gang a tour of the m'home on Saturday afternoon - but we're getting ahead of ourselves!
We had so much fun last April with Rose's old business friends at the Hilton Head IMRA Conference and Past Presidents' Reception, that Myrna invited two of the people we'd had a lot of laughs with, Norma Jean and her husband Gus, and Bill and his wife Sue, up to her cabin for this weekend with us. Norma Jean and Gus arrived Friday evening, after Myrna and Greg and Rose had gotten a good start on cocktail hour, and Bill and Sue arrived in time for lunch (and our first cocktail hour of the day!) on Saturday. We shared Myrna's pictures of the work that had been done on the cabin and her granddaughter; Norma Jean and Gus' pictures of their grandkids and their last couple of trips, to Austria, Switzerland and Ireland, and a few recent photos of Bill and Sue's beautiful grandkids, and, of course, a few stories and pictures of our time on the road this past year. We talked, laughted, drank and ate a lot, went out on the boat (that got a bit wet with 8 of us on board!), and on Saturday night, a few of us went to I-94 Speedway in Sauk Centre, where Greg and Rose enjoyed seeing the Legends Cars run again.
As has been the case with the last few updates - the pictures will follow (that's getting to be an old refrain, isn't it?), but suffice it to say - it was a fabulous weekend!
