We left Casa Grande on Sunday, finally beginning our trip to Livingston, Texas, where we'll establish our "home base". On Saturday, because it was a really nice day, we washed and waxed the car, as it had drizzled on it a bit the day we left Cottonwood, leaving it looking rather sad. The drive from Arizona into New Mexico had more pretty scenery, red rocks, and even a reminder of the life we left behind (see pictures #1 and 2)
I suppose the name of the campground in Deming, NM ("Hidden Valley") could have been a hint, or I might even have read the directions to the campground more carefully, but that would have been too simple. Instead, we drove down 7 miles of gravel road (picture #3)in the motorhome, pulling that previously-shiny redbird behind us. No sense in removing the dust that night, as we knew we had to return by the same middle-of-nowhere route to reach the highway the next day. The satisfaction of a beautiful sunset from the rv site (picture #4) that night helped ease the pain!
On to Ft. Stockton Texas...
