Sleeping on the night train ... it wasn't good and it wasn't bad. I just didn't get enough of it. Culture shock as I arrived in Prague. It's the first time ever that I arrived in a country without speaking even a single word. Prices here seem much more reasonable than Western Europe but some things seem to cost as much, if not more.

Walked to Charles bridge and got a 20 euro ticket for jaywalking. I'm not sure if it was legit or not - I asked for a receipt and got one. Asked to see his ID and he showed me one. Whether or not it was real, I have no idea. Jaywalking is not acceptable here so hopefully it was a real ticket.

Bad start to the day but what do you do? Charles Bridge was ok. Lots of people, vendors, and performers. I had a sausage roll and pastries for breakfast ... good stuff. There's a nice energy in Prague. I browsed through some shops ... "Dynamite" by Jamiroquai was playing. It's cool how there are so many bands that are massive in Europe but are almost non-existent in North America.

Went to the astronomical clock ... waited for noon for the clock to chime and ... it was over-rated. Nothing really happens! A waste of time.

I saw a classical concert advertised at a church and thought, "Cool, real Czech culture. Then I saw every other church in Prague had concerts as well, and usually the same music too. Talk about a cash grab. Disgusting, in fact. I am not getting a good impression of Prague.

St. Nicholas cathedral ... nothing special. Rudolfinium ... beautiful building. Jan Palach square ... nothing special as well, except for its significance (see pics).

A lady tried to rip me off when I was buying a fridge magnet. Know your prices and what change you should get here! The sad thing is that I bought it there because it was a little cheaper than elsewhere. She tried to charge me what other places were charging ... why not just do that in the first place? Don't show the price as one thing and "accidentally" charge me more. Money hungry bastards!!!

Wenceslas square - nice vibe and a great place to stroll. Walked through a shopping mall and had a walnut gelato - nothing special. Funny ... some places charge 2 euros, more than places in Italy and France. Tourist gouging ... a common theme here.

Walked past the Communist Museum ... didn't go in. Mucha Museum ... didn't go either. Franciscan gardens - ok, a nice spot to relax and have some juice but again, nothing special.

Walked down Wenceslas square at night drinking the famous Pilsner Urquell beer - good, but not legendary. A metaphor for Prague so far - over-rated and over-hyped and when you are finished with it, all you have is an empty can. It really is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever seen but there are also many things that I don't like.

Had a chicken filet sandwich. Huge! It took me 5 minutes of eating the perimeter of the chicken filet to get to the bun. Found a place with 16 kc (70 cent CAD) hot dogs and had to have one. Bad move as it tasted like a 2 cent hot dog.
