You'll find a wide choice of bars and restaurants in Avoriaz whether you're looking for party nights or a relaxed dinner for two.

Local resident Christelle Lacombe took a gastronomic tour of the resort to select her hot favourites...

Intimate
"Don't miss Jean-Luc Woehl's completely new Dining Room in "Garde-Manger", Avoriaz's renowned delicatessen.

The dining room is decorated with wooden furniture, traditional farmhouse tables and bright fabrics, and the pretty old crockery was discovered in local antique shops. The room seats 20, which encourages guests to talk to each other.
The atmosphere is very informal asJean-Luc does the cooking while his guests watch. He uses only fresh ingredients bought at the market and there is no set menu, just freshly made dishes on a daily basis, depending on what is available. The daily menu has a choice of three starters, main courses and desserts.

Speciality dishes include terrines, rillettes, cheeses, soups, stews, and
coq-au-vin.
Dishes are not served on individual plates but set out on the table in earthenware, soup bowls, casserole dishes and plates so you can dip into them according to taste.
The morning begins at nine o'clock with a pre-ski breakfast consisting of a mushroom omelette, local cooked meats and cheeses, homemade bread and... white Valais wine!
After you come back from skiing, you will find the "snack room" here, serving traditional bread and butter, fruit jam, home made pastries and traditional hot chocolate!"

"The Hotel des Dromonts holds its après-ski in the lounge bar. There is an atmosphere to suit everyone: beside the Labro fireplace, in a cosy alcove, in the open area.
The new cocktail menu features 'house' cocktails, which contain a sophisticated combination of forest fruits as well as the well-known classics"

Fangle's Soup Bar
"Just like restaurants in the Swiss mountains, Le Fangle has opened a healthy "soup bar", which will give you vitamins and warm you up after a morning of skiing. This Avoriaz restaurant is in a tastefully refurbished chalet and offers a choice of three different soups every day, including potato, leek, tomato, pumpkin, and courgette embellished with cheeses such as Gruyère Comté, Beaufort, Emmental or Parmesan, mountain herbs and garlic croutons."

Le Fangle: +33 (0)4 50 74 02 24
From 8 Euros.

Cool
"Le Chapka is the new mountain pub in Avoriaz, which stays open til 2 am. As well as a steady flow of booze, it serves a great choice of light meals carefully selected from the mountain's finest range of cooked meats and cheeses, served in terrines, pâtés and salads. The atmosphere is fantastic: giant screens, music, billiard tables...it's a top new spot for young people in Avoriaz."

"Avoriaz is just over one hour away from Geneva and is the nearest high altitude resort from the airport. There are excellent shuttle and snow taxi links."
