Punda-Maria Rest Camp

Flag of South Africa  ,
Monday, April 4, 2011

Apologies for the dot points but we got a bit busy after I came back so I'm going to have to simply keep everything as my draft mode in the actual post :o( Hopefully the photos will make up for everything!

* Very few sightings comparitively - large herd of bufflao, the odd elephant  (one very much in musth and dripping urine too), and elephant almost climbing into a water tank
* Headed north to Crooks Corner the most north eaterly point of Kruger and South Africa, the junction between the river that separates Zimbabwe, South Africa and Mozambique. Veyr beautiful with fever trees and huge spider webs everywhere looking very rainforesty and similar to the other side of teh Selati on Makalali but with fever trees.
* Chameleons by the tonne!
* Don't understand the bad reactions to vervets here, there was a guy chasing them off with a laser beam at Punda-Maria and it wasn't near his stuff it was near mine and there was clearly no problem with me having her there. She was just curious but knew when I told her she wasn't to come closer, she was very responsive but was obviously scared by the laser and it was in appropriate too. At Shingwedzi, they threw rocks at them. Not on!
* Rain in the morning but cleared up during the day before clouding over again - rain tonight? Tent tied to a tree just in case!
* Run out of braai food so dinner at the resteraunt tonight!
