The canal and the locks along it aren't anything particularly spectacular to look upon, but I found it very interesting to have been able to watch them in action as they filled each lock to raise waiting canal-boats up-water.
I took a walk around the area and there were some beautiful scenes: two majestic swans with six cygnets, upon the lake; a boy and his puppy running alongside his Dad's small boat as it was lifted each level, by the locks; and rolling fields of green and yellow flowing down the hillside, leading to a town in the distance which was dominated by a gothic-style church tower.
