Carol was friends with an elderly couple and when the husband died, his wife asked Carol to put his clothing to good use so as it not go to waste. The man had been sick in his last years and kept to his bed for the most part and this led to his many pairs of pyjamas being a great influence on the wardrobe that Carol took to find use for. She now offers her guests what she dubs 'deadman's clothing' as a way to pass on a good man's memory and find use of his old clothing. She also very proudly showed me a baby blanket she's sending off to South Africa for her newborn niece which is made entirely from 'deadman's clothing' and will be sent as a symbol of hope for a good life filled with great people for the little girl. The colourful bunting strung around the front of the house is her own talisman of good-will and energy and also made from 'deadman's clothing'.
