Show trip route
As many of you know, and some of you donŽt, the three of us--Sean Conner, Melissa Moss, and Molly Hoss--have traveled to Puebla, Mexico, for a summer of community service and development. We arrived last Thursday, May 17th, and despite preparation we were still suprised by the vast cultural differences. Foremost weŽd like to thank those that have made this transition as easy as possible, notably Dave and Marie Skinner, Rodolfo Carvajal, Luiz Colonel, Angelica and Roxeanne.
What we hope to showcase in these dispatches is not only our trip, but the historical and cultural legacies of Puebla. Attached are pictures from our journey thus far, the busride from Mexico City to Puebla and our living accomodations. Below are profiles for each member of our team. Enjoy!
Sean Conner: I am a (now) Senior in English and Creative Writing with a minor in Political Science
Molly: Hola! My name is Molly Hoss and I was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas. I'm currently a biology major at Kansas State University, but next year I will be heading to Kansas City to go to the University of Kansas School of Medicine. I'm not sure which type of doctor I want to be yet because every field looks like an amazing opportunity. I guess I'll have to figure it out when I get to school. I cheered for two years at KSU and performed in two of KSU's dance productions. I enjoy dance, gymnastics, hiking, white water rafting, reading and sleeping. I've wanted to live abroad in a Spanish speaking country for many years, and now my dreams have become a reality. Once I become a doctor I would like to still travel to spanish speaking countries and use my skills as a doctor to help out.
Melissa Moss: Hi, I'm from Tonganoxie, Kansas and I just graduated from K-State. In Oct I will
be moving to Sacramento, California to work for Americorps. After 10 months in the Americorps I would like to either get a masters degree in Public Health or work for a non-profit organization
Next Dispatch will contain pictures of our walk around the historic city center of Puebla, and contain more details regarding our projects.
