We are learning the essential Spanish phrases, but my favorite is “Pura Vida”, pronounced POOrah VEEdah, with a little roll of the “r”. It is a term used by Ticos, put on all the t-shirts, and means essentially “Pure Life”. They say it a lot and it has various rather profound meanings to them. To me, at this point, if some one says “How are you?” or “Como esta?” I now answer with “pura vida” or “muy bien, gracias”
Our excursion today was marvelous. We were taken by a small bus to Rio Tempisqui, a small river in a jungle. We saw both capuchin and howler monkeys, quite a few crocs, all kinds of tropical and migrating birds and beautiful flowers. NONE of the animals in the trees posed for me but I did get a wonderful shot of a momma capuchin with her baby on her back and a few good ones of iguanas, of which there is no shortage in Costa Rica..
Back on our heavenly yacht, our new friends, Donna and Burt invited us to Candles. This meant dinner on the aft deck under the stars and nearly a full moon. A perfect way to end a perfectly wonderful day.
