Thanks to all for your lovely comments and holiday wishes, by Thanksgiving was filled with some great sights and great conversation.....
I took a tour of the rainforest, specificaly the Taberlands, which are about hour inland from the water, and it was really amazing to know that these rainforests are so close to the water and the barrier reef....The day started with a another groggy eyed paul not wanted to get out of bed, of course his night time activies had impacted his energy just somewhat, but the living situation did not help as well .... b/t the 5 in the room i was the only one who wanted the Air on and everytime I put it on and was able fall back asleep someone decided to shut it off, I felt like my dad when we travel he wants the room nice and cold while everyone elses freezes, however its humid and hot with it not on....well anyway at least i had a room with air, so the travels of the day brought me to some amazing views and actually was able to hang from the vines like tarzaan, it was cool and all the members of the group just laughed at me as i swang like a monkey .... aftwerwards we journeyed over to the sight of a volcanic eruption some 80yr ago and saw this huge hole in the earth in the middle of the rainforest, the damage from this explosion was done for more than 5 KM from the sight, is where they spotted fragmets of this explosioin.....from there we saw some waterfalls and then i got to hold a snake and got some cool pictures with it, pictures will be done once i am back.....on the ride back the driver put on Frank Sinatra, NY NY, and said it was for me so I got up and sang for everyone.....gotta love Ol Blue Eyes himself....Before I leave this part of the trip I must mention another gentalmen I met, a local from syndey who has ran over 20 marathons in his life, and did run the NY marathon as well in 2 hours and 40min, that is an amazing time, but that is not the point next Sept he will be journeying into the jungles of South East Asai for 7 days and living like a tribal member, I got his information and asked to be in touch with him cause I know his stories will be out of control....now that is pushing yourself to the limits, another individual I meet that inspires me to push myself each and ever day, one of the many goals of this trip....and I must say I know when I come back each of these run ins will make me a btter person, to think how others have done it!!!
The night was low key as the next day I knew I had to be up at 645am so I got two beers this local guy mentioned for me to try and relaxed in the room listening to some music....but once again the room situation was eating away at me and everyone was on a different page, however I got talking to one of them a nice ladt from england and we agreed that this sharing room is not fun,
It was nice to wake up with a clear mind and go off on a nice boat journey out to the great barrier reef, while the journey out there took some two hours, i thought to myself at a young age i would love to see it in person, and some 20 yrs later i was there, dreams do come true ... for all us mets fans another world series might never come!!!!
The colors again were amazing and the fishes, turtles, reef, STING RAYS!!! just one cannot imagine how close you are to them as you sit there and float....Tonight I am thinking about trying some kanagroo meat and nice beer or two before leaving Cairns for a flight to syndey tomorrrow as I am within 48 hours of coming home, see Mom I told you I would be Safe...
I did try the kanaroo as well as emu, emu was really rough but the kangaroo was just great, try to go to a OZ place to eat back in the city now that i have tried it .. after that i went into the big club here and just watch as all the young europeans danced around for a couple of hours and then made the walk back home....
It is Sat morning now and my time is ending really quickly here, I will leave you with one last thought that crossed my mind while walking this morning, before I write when I get back to the states .....
"MANY YEARS AGO I TOLD MYSELF HOW COULD I EVER GO AWAY BY MYSELF, NEVER MIND TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD, WELL I DID AND VERY PROUD OF MYSELF FOR IT.....I ASK EVERYONE TO STEP OUTSIDE THEIR COMFORT ZONE PUSH THEIR LIMITS AND MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE!!!!"
THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE SUPPORT AND FUNNY COMMENTS, IT MADE ME FEEL LIKE I WAS BACK IN THE STATES THE WHOLE TIME....
