The week after my little trip to Nederland was quite uneventful. I wasn't feeling great, my neck had to be corrected twice, so I was mainly home doing nothing.
I started to feel restless again as my neck stayed in place, and got a very good weekend-deal with Enterprise rent a car, so I decided to check out the Rocky mountains before winter sets in. I've always wanted to go to Aspen (don't know why) so I went there! It is a 4 hour long drive from Boulder including some stops for pics. I started very late so I didn't get there before it was dark unfortunately. It's a beautiful drive along really majestic mountains. You climb up to almost 12.100 feet (3.700 mtrs) over Independence pass, before hitting Aspen at 8.000 feet. (2.400 mtrs.)
I found a cheap place to stay (for Aspen!) - the St. Moritz lodge, where I shared a room with two other women. They actually work at a hotel in Aspen, and save money staying in a dorm, since it is so expensive to live there. The St. Moritz lodge sounds more ritzy than it is, but it was comfortable and a good value for money for people on a budget. I had a late dinner and had a look around, saw some promising places for decent shopping, and went to bed exhausted! More thumbnails ...
