Viva Mexico

I was getting a bit restless being by myself in Boulder.
I'm feeling a bit better after my treatments and feel so far away from the ocean here in Colorado, so I decided a couple a weeks ago that it was time for a little trip. Just to see how much better I've become as traveling is quite exhausting... It's a little test if you will!
My journey didn't start too well. I am bringing a lot of luggage (camera and scuba gear) and it was hard enough just to get to the airport bus, as I have to rely on public transportation here in Boulder. But after having made it from my house to the airport bus, I was resting comfortably, thinking that I'd have a lot of my time on my hands at the airport taking an early bus. I opened my hand luggage to make sure everything was there, just to discover that I'd actually forgotten my passport!!!! So, I had to get off the bus, take two buses back to my house - another bus back to where the airport bus leaves from, just to discover I had missed the next bus to the airport. Time wasn't on my side after this extra trip back to my house so I decided to go to Denver and try to get to the airport from there. Only to find out that it was even harder (timewise!!) I ended up in a taxi, and I was really running low on time when I got to the airport. I had less than an hour before my flight left when I got there and for international travel, that really isn't a lot these days. (I nearly turned around and went back home, because I didn't feel so well from all the stress.) But when I got there it was all good, my flight was 4 hours delayed so I could relax and enjoy the comfort of the floor at the gate while waiting for the plane to arrive.
I got to Cancun pretty late and checked into a hostel near the bus station. I just needed to crash for the night before taking the 6 am bus to Belize. I have to admit that I don't like hostels that much. I'm not really experienced with hostels, but I generally find them smelly, dirty and very noisy. This was no exception. But it is cheap and I only needed a bed for a few hours so it was worth the noise and the lack of comfort after all.
I was just happy I made it to Mexico so my adventure could begin...
