The day dawned overcast and just got worse as it went along.  I had my work picnic so the drive up to Syracuse wasn't going to happen until later anyway.  Picnic was a lot of fun, got to see some old friends and play some softball (despite the rain).  I was told those of us playing, were called the extremists.  I call us dedicated.  Anyway, the rain got so bad the softball tournament couldn't be continued, so the new champion has yet to be named.  This was good though from the stand point of driving to upstate NY.

We stopped for dinner somewhere outside of Binghamton.  We ate at a Cracker Barrel, a chain I know but I really was in the mood for some fried okra.  Plus with the rain, I wanted some comfort food and what's better than good old fashioned southern cooking?  I also tried the coca-cola fudge cake for dessert.  If you like chocolate cake,  you should definitely try this!  Not really good for my weight loss efforts, but the plan for the weekend was to just hold constant.

Arrived in Syracuse sometime after 8pm.  Since I had wanted Cracker Barrel, I agreed to go out to some of the brew pubs in downtown Syracuse.  Even though I was completely exhausted.  We actually only made it to Empire Brewing since I was falling asleep at the bar.  Not being a big beer fan, I stuck with just a cranberry and club soda.  You know it is a good place when they know that comes with a twist of lime even though you forget to order that part.

Caught some of the Kansas-South Florida football game.  Saw the incredible catch in the end zone by USF which made the highlight reels the next day.  That was a great game.
