I am definitely ready to go home, to retreat to my solitude. I wish I could have a day at home before I need to re-enter the workforce, but alas that will not happen. The drive to the Twin Cities was hot, dirty, and just plain stressful. We tried to stop at Green Lake on the way out, but the park was packed. We found a public boat launch where we walked down so I could at least see the lake.
Things got a little bit better once we reached the hotel. The pool was nice and at first we had it all to ourselves. We brought Smiley with us, but we really didn't need to. There was a whole wire basket full of pool toys. They had a beach ball, noodles, splash bombs, diving rings, and toy torpedoes. This is a great idea. I wish more hotel pools would do this because not everyone thinks to bring a Smiley with them.
Isaiah, Mom and I then headed over to the Mall of America. At first, Isaiah didn't want to go but he came. Once he saw the whole Nickelodeon themed amusement area, he was very glad he came. We had dinner at Johnny Rocket's where we played various old-time songs on the little jukebox. After dinner, we played and shopped in the big Lego creative center.
Then we finally ventured into the Amusement area. It is very expensive to ride the various rides, so we chose two we wanted to ride. First we talked the Sponge Bob Plunge ride. It reminded me a lot of the Mystery Mine ride at Dollywood. Eight people fit into a car, four per row. The car leans completely on its back at it climbs the 90 degree hill. It then drops at almost another 90 degrees and then twists, turns, and goes upside down. It was a lot of fun, though very short.
The next/last ride we tried was the Fairly Odd Coaster. On this one, you sit four in the car everyone facing the center of the car. When the car goes up the hill, two of the people ride up backwards. That was Isaiah and I for our car. Once you start down the hill, the car is allowed to rotate and it becomes like a wild mouse ride. I thought it was going to make me feel sicker than it did like the Primeval Hurl, I mean Whirl, at Animal Kingdom does. That ride always makes me want to toss my cookies, even if I haven't eaten yet. The Fairly Odd Coaster also had an interesting feature of having two cameras in each car, one focused on each pair of riders. Pretty cool to watch when you come off.
We didn't do any shopping other than the Lego store which is quite amazing. Mom was talking to a man from Kansas who comes with his family here for vacation. His wife shops while the kids ride the rides. I think that could be quite expensive, though you can buy an unlimited ride wrist band though I believe it is only good for one day.
Well we are sitting here at the airport waiting for our flight which has been delayed. It figures, though only delayed by 20 minutes, not bad for Newark.

That is cool.
More hotels should keep toys in the pool. It's not too expensive, and it makes people happy! Then again, wouldn't people steal them like they steal the hotel towels?
Nice first blog, keep up the great work!
