We decided to take I-90 to MN-23 on the trip back just to get a different view from the trip out.  We stopped at Pipestone National Monument.  This is a place where the Native Americans quarry pipestone.  The pipestone is easy to shape and carve.  One of the most common uses was to make the famous peace pipes.  The quarries are still used today.  We took the circle trail which is a ¾ mile walk through the prairie, the quarries, and the waterfall.
We arrived back at the farm about mid-day where we were assaulted by a Texas Ranger wannabe and his water six shooter.  Ok, maybe it wasn't a six shooter but we can pretend.  He had been waiting for us all day.  Isaiah found another water gun and the water fight began.  I hear it progressed to grenades and Brett was very wet at one point.  I remember having a water fight all those years ago, but I kind of remember there being red Kool-Aid in some of the pistols.  I think that might have been Tim and I.  I'm not sure any more Waterfall at Pipestone

Around 7:30 we headed over to the Carl's farm for the Independence Day celebration.  There was fabulous roasted hot dogs, baked beans, lots of dips, beer bread, and wonderful watermelon.  Other goodies too.  Once dusk set in, the real fun began.  It started out with some smaller variety of fireworks, june bugs, sparklers and the like.  Later, the adults broke out the big ones.  They were well done.  I had never seen amateur fireworks of that quality.  There were also special 3-D glasses that added special effects.  The ones I looked through had a starburst effect in red, white and blue.  It was a very enjoyable and relaxing evening and we finally arrived back at the hotel around midnight.
