I'm sure most of you have figured out by now, that I am always a day behind in the entries.  So before I continue with the family festivities, I must just say that I am glad I decided to go to the First Presbyterian Church this morning.  I needed to be reminded just how much I need forgiveness.  So I hope I am more kind and gracious to my family today.  To all I might have been snappish with yesterday, my apologies.

So yesterday the weather turned icky.  In the morning, Isaiah, Emily, and I hung out in the indoor pool.  The pool has a waterslide as well as a water basketball game.  The waterslide was a lot of fun, but it is only open a few hours each day.  Isaiah taught me a basketball game called "knockout" which was lots of fun.  We also played "HORSE".  By the time we were done swimming, the weather really had become nasty.  It was gray, cold, and rainy.

We hit the Wal-Mart prior to heading out the farm because everyone but me didn't bring a sweatshirt Kerry on the Waterslide

.  It is really hard to find a sweatshirt in the middle of summer, but finally we got three.  By the time we got to the farm, the pig was already roasted and cut up.  And it was definitely raining.  Luckily my uncle has a big metal garage that fits us all.  There were several picnic tables set up.  Downpours were the course for the day.

As we were hanging out, I was playing solitare and looking for someone to play hearts with.  Seems my family are compulsive gamblers because no one wanted to play a game that didn't involve money.  So we played nickel poker instead.  I cleaned up winning $5.60. I told them we should have played hearts. ;-)

I also picked up some new quotes.  My uncle Ed brought this one: "Some people learn by reading.  Others by observing.  And some just need to pee on the electric fence."  Carol Anne had an addendum: "And some need to do it more than once."

Later in the evening, we had a DJ come.  Let me tell you, those first generation can still dance.  But it is in the genes.  Their mother, my grandmother, was still dancing at her 95th birthday.  I did also find out that it is some family defect since I am not the only who falls down for no reason.  I heard lots of stories of other family members doing it.  I guess I just need to stay in the water, I'm part fish you know.

We also had gifts for different people: The youngest, The oldest, The one who travelled the farthest, The one with the most kids.  My mom got that one, even though she married into 10 of the 12 kids. :-)  Then Jim, Joe, and Carol Anne were recognized for jumping right into the farm chores when they arrived on Thursday.  Guess those Jersey Suburbanites aren't too afraid of the open plains.  Jim and Joe got American Farm boy shirts, and Carol Ann got a Farm Girl shirt.  They looked good in them.

Well that's about it for now.  We are heading back to the farm again today for hopefully just some relaxing hanging out.  And since the sun is out, maybe we can play horseshoes and Isaiah can ride a horse!
