What a day. After a seven hour GRUELLING bus journey we arrived at the commemorative site at 8pm. Only 9 and a half hours of waiting outside ın the cold to go!!

There is always something going on to inform and entertain you. Australian army band were playing the old hits as we arrived and played again at 11:30. Documentaries, letter readings and interviews being conducted throughout the night. Great ıf you were awake, just a little loud if you were trying to sleep :-)

Was it sold though. Ohhhhhhhh was it cold. Sitting right on the ocean to feel the beautiful sea breeze. Each of us ın a sleeping bag wearing 5-6-7 layers. Alicia had four pairs of leggings and was still cold.

All worth it in the end. Hopefully you saw the ceremony on tv. Hard for Chris to fıght back tears singing the anthem.

Took a walk down to the beach afterwards w,th a couple of Aussie mates before the 45 minute up hıll walk to Lone Pine, where the Australian service is held. It was hard enough for us to walk up the hill...imagine having to run up them, dodging bullets whilst having to fire off your own.

From what we saw every one of the 8 thousand ish people there was well behaved, respetcful, and whilst it was a tough slog getting through the hours and the elements, attendıng the ANZAC Day Gallipoli service and wandering through the cemetaries and memorials was a wonderful, moving experience that we will never forget.
