We start the day by visiting Swayambunath - the temple up on the hill above Kathmandu.
The first thing you notice as you arrive is that the whole hillside appears to be
covered in prayer flags.

Swayambutnath is also known as the 'Monkey Temple' - and we had been warned to keep a
tight hold of sunglasses, cameras, etc,
just in case one of the monkeys decided to pinch them. We did see a few monkeys - but
they seemed quite shy. None of them came close enough to pinch anything.
(Perhaps they just didn't like my brand of sunglasses.)
