We picked up Morgan and Coralyn from EFY which was a teary good by to all their new friends whom now they feel like they can not live apart from ! And I was worried that my 2 very social girls might not have a good time ! It was very uplifting for them in many different aspects and I can see changes in them as they begin to really think about their life goals and how their talents can bring them closer to discovering their mission in life. For Morgan, it is music and art and now apparently a new language! For Coralyn it is her writing and sports. This is such a wonderful exciting time in their lives and it is rewarding for us as parents to see them develop their characters. I am grateful they have their feet planted so firmly and that they have such strong opinions about things but are always open to what Bob and I have to say as well. We are truly blessed with our children that is for sure ! As many of you know, this has been a real time for reflection and healing in our family. Our little baby Kai whom we fostered from 3 days old was returned to her birth parents just after she turned a year. We had hopes of adopting this precious girl and she truly felt like our child. It was always a possibility that she could be returned however we had all decided that we would give her our full love and hearts because we believed that as a daughter of God she deserved the best we could give her and so we did. She was surrounded by a very loving family who adored her for the most critical period of her life and now that she is gone there is a terrible hole. Kai has a very strong spirit and will and we are hoping that that will serve her well and we pray for her birth parents that they will have the strength to give her what she needs and provide her with what we began in her life. We would do it all over again because she gave us such joy and taught us that you can love someone completely even if they do not stay in your life. It has been a lesson for all of us that you have to sacrifice your own pain to fully enjoy the rewards. Anyway, this trip has been a time for us to get used to life without her and to come to some sort of peace. I have had a lot of hours on the road to be able to contemplate what all of this means and where our family goes from here. I  have not figured it all out yet but I am feeling a sense of real hope and some excitement about what the future will hold. As we make our way towards Boston I am filled with anticipation as I love history and know so much of what and whom is associated with Boston ! Well, it was a shocker to come to 6 different freeways all crossing each other and head through tunnels that I thought would rip the roof off the RV (only to find out later that vehicles that carry propane are not allowed in the tunnels !!) Olivia was helping me navigate (keeping me calm !) and there were no signs for us tourists to say "over here - the historical section is over here !" Anyway, sweating and white knuckled I pulled into a parking lot and asked directions of a deli delivery man whom not only was so helpful but directed us to the cheapest parking lot in town that could actually park an RV. That is the biggest problem driving 29 feet of vehicle - PARKING IT ! We got parked and got on a trolley tour as I figured this was a city I could not drive around in. The sad thing about Boston is that there have been so many fires that there are actually very few original buildings from the time of the revolution. They are spread apart and the spaces between filled with huge modern buildings which is kind of strange ! Anyway, we went through the USS Constitution which this ship has an amazing history known as "Old Ironsides". The tour was great and took us to all the major landmarks and parks and I was grateful we did it this way ! Our tour guide was an older man and had a great Boston accent and was a sports fan so he could give some great stories of the old days ! Did you know that where the actual "tea party" took place is now water filled in with ground and a big building on top of it ! Apparently the harbor of Boston had a huge wharf built in front of it that had various openings that they could allow friendly ships to enter. It was tired of getting attacked by the British so that was why they built this wharf and on top of it stood a carousel and various circus type amusements. With time the inner harbor was filled in to create more space and the wharf came down and even more fill was added so that now the land extends a mile out ! There is a plaque on the building where the actual tea was tossed into the harbor which once was !! Also, there still stands a carousel in the spot where the original one stood !We drove past "Cheers" and the Harvard Club, the biggest site of Christian Scientology I have ever seen and of course Paul Revere's house ! I would love to go back to Boston for a week and actually go through the Colonnade and Fenwick Park instead of just seeing the outside ! There are a lot of famous historical constitution people buried here ! The city side streets are all brick buildings and apparently they shut some of them up at night to hold festivals and street parties ! Boston has a huge Irish population and you know how those Irish like to celebrate ! (those are my ancestors so I can say that !) Well, I wish we had more time here but I do not know where we are staying tonight so I like to make my way out of the big cities by 6pm so that we have time in the next hour to find somewhere safe ! I know I did not do Boston justice but I hope everyone enjoyed some of my thoughts !
