Making our way out of LA traffic, we drove up the California coast to San Francisco. After walking for all of 4 minutes, we realized how much we missed and loved SF--its a real city, dynamic and beautiful. We watched our friend Chris in a hilarious production of the SF Follies, then headed up to Shasta for some more skiing--fantastic snow and sunshine. Scanning the I5 for an exit to our hotel, we spotted a sign that said "Weed, next 3 exits". We took the first one and spent the night. dude.
We just have to stop here and say how great it was to meet up with Jenny and Eric in LA, how nice it was for John to lend us his apartment in Venice the whole time in LA, and wonderful to see Chris in SF. Back to Northern California--the mountains and trees of the northwest were welcoming us back into their lair again. And the closer we were getting to British Columbia, the harder it rained--yuck. Taking the ferry from Washington directly into Victoria harbour (see photo) was intense as our entire road trip was as wide as the straight we crossed, then became more and more focused as the ferry brought us into port in Victoria and released us right in front of the Parliament buildings--we were actually "here"
So we've been busy seeing friends and family in this soaking city by the sea (Vancouver not Victoria) and taking care of business before we leave this Sunday (6th). We got a decent deal to Bangkok where we'll proceed by train, tuk-tuk, taxi, boat, bus, ferry, a pied, and the occasional plane (thats not really traveling) until June 17. Thailand, Laos, Cambodia (I just bought 2 tickets, or at least think I did, from Cambo to Sing for $20/each!!), Singapore, Bali, Thailand, Hong Kong, then hopefully the rain will have slowed down when we return to BC.
We miss y'all and love hearing from you. xo

. Our future home. hmmmm. wow. The Customs officer asked us where our home was and we said we didn't have one. He smiled (they're not allowed to smile in the States) and asked us where we live and we smiled and said "Canada". "Okay he said, "where for instance might you be staying tonight and the night after?" We were able to answer those and a few other questions, then he wished us a good day. It was nice to once again here the familiar sounds of CBC radio and read a Globe. After our trip, we vowed not to take either of those for granted again. We looked at a few houses and condos that were all interesting, but nothing that begged hard enough to dislodge our funds. Such fun for you guys, and it's not over yet.
Well, it's raining here in Toronto as well... supposed to be all day. When will the sun and heat come to this place and stay a while!!!
Looking forward to your next entry.
