This is Jo's old stamping ground so on her recommendation we took a day out from our idyllic pad and went for a tour of the Thousand Island. One side of the island belongs to Canada and one side is the USA and it is not hard to identify which side is which as they are extremely proud of their countries to fly their national colours. The sides of the lake are fairly full with homes and even some of the little islands have homes on them too with enough room for a small deck and a place to tie up the boat. It appeared (from the commentary) that the waters are full of ship wrecks, nearly every where we went there was a wreck underneath us - crap sailors.

On our return we chatted to a family of Presbyterians. The women were dressed in simple, modest dresses with little caps of material on their heads. I was interested as they looked like they were from the Amish community but appeared to be on holiday which did not add up. This group came from a community who followed the new testament. They lived a simple life but had cars and electrical items, in fact one of the men was keen to tell us about his new kitchen.

We took a walk around Gananoque town centre (if you could call it that) and it appeared to be a pound land paradise. One thing that I did enjoy going into was a fantastic secondhand book shop absolutely full of books listed by authors. Books were basically half their retail price. I was amazed by the collection of Jeffrey Archer books available and a biography on The Princes (William and Harry) which was displayed as 'prized' book behind the till.

Delicious ice cream, stock up on the wine and then home.
