I had heard that Lake Tekapo is beautiful, and so I planned on spending a couple of nights here. My heart sank as the bus pulled up into the middle of nowhere. True, the greeny/blue waters were indeed beautiful, but it really was the middle of nowhere. Thankfully I managed to get a space on the bus the next day and the hostel didn't charge me for cancelling a night off my booking. I just wasn't in the mood! I needed to be somewhere with a bit of life about it. So all that was left to do was to enjoy the spa baths up the road with a group of friends from the bus. They came in hot, very hot and scalding. Most of us decided to spend most our time in the very hot bath whilst watching the sky change as the sun sank. It turned out to be a great evening, but I was glad to be getting to civilization the next day. Sometimes you need a break from having peace and quiet and "alone time"!
