After a long day on the road, we finally arrived at our hostel, Hogwartz. Presumably not "Hogwarts" anymore due to copyright! Still, it was a great hostel, with huge rooms and no bunk beds. According to my lonely planet, my room used to be a dining hall for monks! Dunedin is meant to be modelled on Scotland somewhat, and a lot of the street names would have you convinced that you were actually in Edinburgh. The weather would also certainly convince you of that as it rarely stopped raining. The main attraction for most of us backpackers however, would seem to be the Cadbury's Chocolate factory nestled amongst the streets. I was very excited by this.
So, we set off to take a tour of the factory, and by luck, met a friend from the day before, already down there. We were practically jumping up and down waiting for the tour to start we were so excited! We were made to wear silly hair nets whilst being shown how chocolate was made, apparently New Zealand's milk is superior to everywhere else making the chocolate taste "better"
It was just as well Dunedin is good for shopping. On the way to the chocolate factory, the small hole in my jeans decided it would turn into a much bigger hole. It was threatening to spoil my dignity! I spent a lot of my tour round the chocolate factory slightly paranoid I was exposing myself, and was very glad to be able to get the shops afterwards to replace my Jeans. Meeting back up with my friends, we quickly decided on an Irish pub to grab some lunch, all of us were taken by the same item on the menu! We made it inside just before the rain!
All that was left was to get to Dunedin's last tourist attraction on the way out. Baldwin Street is famous for being the world's steepest street. My old boss had dared me to run up it. So I did...for all of three seconds before deciding that walking was perhaps a better idea!

Dunedin
. I was far from convinced! English chocolate is by far the best! The best bit of course was the free samples that are given to you along the tour. And the Cadbury's shop was pretty great as well, although I really had to restrain myself from buying everything! It was just as well Dunedin is good for shopping.
