Train to Penzance

The bikes are packed into their travel bags and we are soon heading to the train station. Paddington has a long sloping access way and having gotten all our gear to this point, Tina went ahead to get a trolley. Just off the concourse, the front wheel stops working. Still using just the back wheels we are able to get all our gear down to the concourse area. We got another trolley and then realised that the 'faulty' trolley was now working. There must be electronic monitoring to prevent the trolleys from being stolen.
The train has no provision for larger baggage
The train goes express for the first part of the journey and we notice that the speed seems very fast. I know the trains at home can do 100 kph but this seemed really fast. Dave turns the GPS on and the speed is showing at 183 kph and continues to climb until sitting at 200 kph. At this sort of speed, there is nothing to do but sit and watch the world blur by.
In the latter part of the trip, the pace is a little slower and we try to get some photos. With this sort of speed capacity and some flexibility, the arrival time of 3:15 pm in Penzance is exactly that.
The first cab waiting for us is a station wagon so there was no problem getting the bikes in the back
Once we settled into our B&B we both doze off in. It must have been the jet lag as Tina awakens in time for a late dinner. Tina wakes up Dave. Nearly too late as it turns out as most of the restaurants are finishing up. Fortunately, the Subway is open, albeit not for too much longer, and we have a quick bite to eat, while they sweep and clean up around us. Yes, the colder weather is keeping the patrons inside their own places of accommodation.
