We are starting to settle in and getting into a regular routine.  Woke up on Sunday to find that the weather had taken a dramatic shift. We went from 75-80 and sunny to 55 wind and rain....a perfect day to slip across the street and have crabs.  We got there about 2:30 and settled down for an assault on the hard shelled delicacies. We were please to find that the crabs were on special at $18.99 for AUCE and they had another special of AUCE Steamed Shrimp and ribs.  As luck would have it we had the same waiter - Chris - who had waited on us at Higgin's other location.  I asked if there was any problem if we bought one of each special and split and he told us that that was a question the could not be asked or answered but that he never watched his customers when eating - so we ordered one of each.  I also ordered a pitcher of - wait for it - Pabst!  I didn't know that it was still made.....  The crabs arrived and they were of good size and covered with a layer of their in house seasoning. Nicely spiced but not lip burning hot. The shrimp were medium sized steamed with a coating of Old Bay...not overcooked and tasty.  The same could not be said of the ribs.  They were floating in a commercial BBQ sauce that was over sweet and tasted of liquid smoke.  If that had been the only issue I could have lived with it.  But nooooooo, the ribs were boiled!  The meat was falling off the bone and yet still fatty....I guess I have lived in the south too long.  For me ribs should be slow cooked at a low temperature and smoked and god forbid the meat falls of the bone...it should be tender but still have a texture and chew.  So much for ribs in Ocean City!  So we spent a pleasant 3 hours eating crabs and shrimp and watching the rain....a nice way to spend a Sunday.

Monday was more of the same without the crabs but we are continuing to feast on our oysters.  We did discover that there are 2 movie theaters close by so we checked the out.  They are both closed on Mondays (or open evenings only) but on Tuesday the tickets are only $5.  This is Buenos Aires prices.  We decided to go and see Taken 2...as it happened we had re-watched Taken on Sunday night.  So at 3PM we went to the Surf and Sun Theater ( very original name) and got our $5 tickets. The theater is a real through back to an earlier era.  Old style seats that do not lean back...kind of cool.  The movie takes up where the last movie left off.  All and all I enjoyed it and would recommend it if you like this kind flick. It was shot mostly in Istanbul which was kind of neat and both Isa and I have re-listed this as a place on our agenda.

Time for a road trip!  Off we went to Assateague Island, the Maryland portion.  Assateague is only about 10 miles from Ocean City and yet a world away.  It is one of the many barrier islands protecting the coast from the ocean.  There is a nice visitors center right before your cross the bridge to the island.  We stopped and saw a short film highlighting the famous horses of Assoteague.  Very interesting place...for a more detailed and informative site check out : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assateague_Island

I bought a pass to visit the park and what a deal!  I know it is hard to believe but being a "senior citizen" I am eligible for a senior pass.  This gives me and up to 3 additional people access to any national park that is run by the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service, Bureau of Reclamation and the US Fish and Wildlife Services. The cost for this LIFETIME pass?  Try $10....it pays to become an old buzzard!  We walked some of the nature trails and did indeed see some of the famous horses as well as many types of sea and marsh bird.  A nice way to spend an afternoon.
