From Bangkok we flew to Chiang Mai on Air Asia.  Air Asia is a no frills airlines started in Malaysia by Tony Fernandes (an Indian).  It now has great connections with Malaysia (e.g. Langkawi), Thailand, Indonesia.  Air Asia now even flies to Melbourne and Trichi in India.  It is known for delays though!

Chiang Mai is a beautiful place.  Lots of nature and mountains.  Great palaces and temples as well.  We also went to Chiang Rai which is close to Burmese border and Golden Triangle.  Golden Triangle is named such because of drug trafficking and three countries coming together - Thailand, Burma and Laos.  Please enjoy pictures below.

Fascinating Thailand
Yes, Chiang Mai is an incredible spot. Be sure to see the Night Market, which begins around 8PM each night, but really gets going around 10PM. And, be sure to haggle for prices... everything is open for bargaining. I used the MapEasy Guidemap for Bangkok and Thailand when I was there, it was really helpful. www.mapeasy.com
ENJOY! And, try the Singha beer... it is the local favorite.
