St. Patrick's day in Ireland, sounds good doesn't it? Sounds like that is how its supposed to be. When I woke up on the morning of St. Paddy's Day, I looked out my window and saw people lining up for the parade right outside my building. Looking at the groups lining up, I seriously thought I saw Italian flags at the front of a group and I thought, if there is an Italian group marching in the St. Paddy's day parade, I will be seriously confused. But when we went outside it tuned out to be some Cork group that had a flag that was the same colored flag. The parade was pretty small, but it was cool. The streets lining the parade route were packed, even more though than in NYC, but I guess there was much less length and they are skinnier sidewalks than in Manhattan. One thing the cork parade has over the NYC parade is the FOOD. I sound like such a pig, but the street food here on St. Paddy's day is INCREDIBLE. Sausages, some curry thing, ice cream, brick oven pizza, fresh made doughnuts, burgers, tea. That is one thing that NYC has to get up on, hot dogs and pretzels just don't cut it. After the parade we came back to the apartment and had some drinks and ordered pizza (yeah, real Irish I know) it was dominoes none the less =] BUT when you order a pizza here, they give you this garlic and herb crust dunking dip which is delicious.  After dinner we went out to Clancy's bar for a while, where they played Irish music which was cool, but I left pretty early b/c I tripped over the vacuum and really hurt my foot, so standing for long periods of time wasn't happening. Overall, St. Paddy's day in Cork was a lot of fun, but I think NYC is a little better.
