Where I stayed
things over here are significantly different but i kinda like it. all of my classes meet twice a week (except for spoken Irish which doesn't start until 2 weeks from now and meets 3 times) for like 45 minutes. the classes start and end on the hour but actually start later and end earlier in order to give students transition times.
the classes are much much bigger than in new paltz, and much more formal i guess. like none of my teachers introduced themselves and one came in late and walked out as soon as he finished speaking, it was really really odd.
all of my classes are graded with one paper and one final exam which previous ones are posted online so you really know what is going to be on it in advanced.
the library has like self check out and return machines, its strange but very efficient i suppose.
apparently they aren't allowed to require students to purchase books so everything is "recommended reading" and even those books are put on reserve in the library. new paltz needs to get that into effect because we spend way too much money on books.
last night Olivia and i went to the campus bar for a while and then to a traditional night where they fed us stew, taught us songs and played music. it was interesting and pretty humorous. overall it was a good time, but the 25 minute walk home in the freezing cold was not fun.
oh, and it snowed last night.
tonight we are going out to celebrate my birthday :-D woop woop i am excited! and tomorrow i am going back down to Kenmare to celebrate with my cousins for my actual birthday which should be really fun=]
