sorry its late, things have been pretty busy.
so to recap...
I was in Kenmare for New Years which was fun, but strange because there was no ball dropping or anything like that. We went to Ryan's bar which has a night club above it and is actually called O'Murchu's which means Murphy's in Irish. Apparently it has changed names a few times but everyone calls it Ryan's because it was Ryan's the longest. But anyway, New Years was fun... they counted down about ten times i have no idea why but the first time we all got excited and counted with them and after looking at our phone noticed it was only 1145!
After midnight I went outside and played phone tag with my parents which wasn't fun, but eventually got them.. even though it was only 7pm for them.
Saturday I left Kenmare and went to my aunts house in Ballincollig which is right outside the city I'm now living in. we brought my stuff into my apt and then i went back to stay the night with them
yesterday i unpacked into my shoe closet size of a room, (I'll upload pics later) and walked to find the school which is a good 20 minute walk, but I'm sure we'll find a shorter route somewhere. I legitimately got the smallest room in the whole apartment. Some people got balcony's and everything! The girl living next to me, wasn't even booked into living here, and she got a better room then me! it sucks, but I'll deal. The heater is also kinda awkwardly set up, it feeds directly into the bathroom door and is kinda blocked off from the bed by the desk. I'm going to try to move the desk over, but i don't know if i can because i might not be able to get into the chair if its at the end of the bed. Apart from my room being tiny and the apartment being FREEZING its nice. I like the girls i live with, ones kinda loud (like Meredith =]) but I've gotten along very well with my neighbor which is cool because she doesn't have any other real friends here like me =]
OK so today was orientation. the campus is quite large, at least 2.5 times the size of New Paltz and some buildings really look like castles, unfortunately feeling as drafty as castles inside.
i felt like such a little freshman dork walking around with my map trying to figure out where my classes will be.
as of right now i am taking 6 classes
introduction to the study of religions
The People’s Health
State and Economy in Independent Ireland and Europe 1922-2000
Introduction to Irish History for Visiting Students
Hitler, Nazism and the Second World War
and Spoken Irish
the class times are crazy and I've already missed every Monday class i have because we had orientation today, but as of now i have from one on Thursday until 2 on Monday off =]
OK i think I've typed enough, sorry for the uber long post but i hope that was satisfactory, if not ask questions!!
