Scott and I decided that we were ready to adopt again, but this time in the US. We still used BBAS, but this time wanted to adopt a newborn. We met an amazing couple who made the selfless decision to place their child for adoption and trust us to raise her. Alaina Morgan Posendek was born on 11/4/11, and had to stay in the NICU for awhile before she was able to come home. Alaina was obviously spoiled by friends and family from the moment she was born. Talia was a wonderful big sis to her. It took her a little while to be ok with holding her, helping with bottles/feeding and we couldn't talk her into doing diapers. Haha
In January of 2013 Scott and I got divorced. We were and always will be friends and do the best for our girls, but it was best for us to part
Back to focusing on Talia and where we left off... She finished Kindergarten at the private school and we worked with the public school to set up an IEP for her to begin in 1st grade. First grade was a little rough to start with, but gradually she came to trust the new teachers. Her teacher had actually adopted a child herself so she was very understanding and patient with Vitalia.
Things that Talia has accomplished from then until now...
1. Has no problem with showers2. Passed her third grade reading test3. Academically keeping up with her peers4. Rode a roller coaster5. Has learned how to tie shoes6. Loves swimming in the pool7. Isn't afraid of the beach and even rode a boogie board!!8. Is able to carry on a back and forth casual conversation9. Tries every night on homework even if she gets frustrated10. Is still the most thankful child I know11. Has learned how to use a computer12. Loves geography, science, birds and weather13. Isn't afraid of fireworks14. Still hates large crowds and really loud noise15. Loves being a big sis and a great example for Alaina16. Rode a horse on her own
I wish that I would have kept up with updating the blog, because I am sure this is something Vitalia will really appreciate when she grows up. I will try to make my next post at least within the year!
