Day 158 Dauphin Island Alabama - New Orleans - Louisiana
We left the park at around 9:15am leaving it for the bird watchers ( this is apparently a place to be to "watch birds" [feathered variety] that migrate in April and Oct) as well as, weekend families with kids .
Set our course to take us through the State of Mississippi, and on to New Orleans, we again choose the pathways off the freeway to attempt to gain some ocean views or different views, this took us through a place called Biloxi, that happened to be having a vintage and classic car sales weekend, with the road way packed with cars heading in and along side the route, any car parks or verges were filled with people selling hot rods or vintage cars , already restored or some ready to be restored. The route was clogged similar to the Sturgis weekend with vehicular traffic, so we decided to head back to highway 10 freeway and head directly to our chosen KOA park.
It was already registered in our GPS, so we simply headed along the track laid out in Mandy. GEE what a challenge! The network of freeways that shoot off is always a confusing challenge and with road works and various rough surfaces, it made for an interesting introduction to New Orleans. As we tracked our way to the RV park, through some what could be described safely as "not so good housing sectors" with a feeling we were not in the correct place, to find Mandy had indeed succeeded in getting us to the correct place.
The park is a small park and the high fence and grounds give no indication to what is behind the park, if we hadn't have travelled through the area ourselves we wouldn't know.
We have booked in for two nights, and a shuttle bus to the city tomorrow to allow us to look around the city and take in a tour.
The weather is fine with a nice breeze, (yes we will put the awning up BEFORE we go to bed, we have WIFI and TV so all in all not a tough call. OH DEAR! There goes a train whistle! Of course there has to be a train line not too far away!
