Day 151 Disney World Animal Kingdom - Loxahatchee, West Palm Beach
Packing up with a shake of a head trying to work out where 7 days has disappeared too?
Yes we spent 7 days here and still a day pass to use in Disney World. Setting sail for Animal
Kingdom and arriving within about 20 mins directed to the RV section for parking and find ourselves not far from the entry gate.
Finding a map to assist us in the search around this new experience, our first choice and direction took us into the African section.
We certainly were in for a surprise; the first ride we hopped on was a Safari ride through the African jungle and savannah land.
What we discovered was the park is set in 110 acres and has real wild animals, not Plastic animated type we encountered on a boat ride in Disneyland.
A wonderful experience with a lot of healthy and free roaming animals including ibis, gazelle, Giraffe Rhinos, elephants and other grass eating mammals, the sections were divided with barriers to allow sections with lions and cheetah to be also viewed. A really pleasant surprise and fun journey in a safari truck.
We left the ride to take in a walk in a Pangani Forest, again a pleasant surprise, to walk in to observe more well kept wild animals including Gorillas and hippos, birds and many enjoyable sights and creatures.
From this point we hopped on a train to transport us behind the scenes of the African section along to the planet watch area, this was another walk through some natural habitats with a strong emphasis on conservation.
Included in this section are some animals under study, including some wonderful display glass cabinets with blue frogs, as an example. A working operating table with a vet working on an animal behind a glass viewing section was also fascinating.
We left that area to head to the Asian section; we walked in, in time to catch a "birds in flight" presentation. It was a great show with a lot of birds flying over just above the heads of the audience, and a well rounded talk to explain the birds and their habits; this included an Australian Galah, and an American Bald Eagle.
We took a walk through the Jungle trek that housed Asian birds and animals, including tigers.
We certainly enjoyed the trek and viewing of the animals, it now became time to take a raft ride, being a white water rafting adventure. Plenty of warning as we approached this ride about "you will get wet, you might be soaked"
Also the people walking away were a good indication, the only ones dry had ponchos on!!
But The Three travellers are undeterred by a bit of water and load up. Well the first rapid managed to wet Karon and Earnie completely and Rick managed to dodge it, not for long, the next one completely soaked us all, including every stitch of clothing.
We stepped off the raft absolutely drenched; decided that The Castle was a great place to head towards for lunch and a change of clothes.
We did look a funny sight as we dripped our way back to our home.
We all changed completely and had lunch, a vote taken,  decided we have had enough theme park experience and so set course to head south to complete our navigation to the southernmost part of the USA.
An interesting challenge to set Mandy to take us to our destination without paying a toll, so we set sail without her help and tracked our way past her "supposed toll road" and we have found our way to a park a little north of Miami, we ran into rain about an hour out and apparently they have had rain since ten am this morning, the park has a lot of surface flooding. We were directed to a handy spot that is a reasonably dry site as best as can be chosen in the circumstances.
Tomorrow we will most likely have a look around Miami and then set off to The Keys, around 5 hours driving from this point, another step in the journey we set out to complete a little time ago.
Hopefully we will be able to touch base from down there, catch you out there.
