Day 135 Virginia Beach - Charlottesville - Virginia.
We certainly were not impressed with being under the flight path of the fighter jets as well as the commercial planes. Coupled with the unavailable internet communication and not so clean showers of this KOA, we chose to head to at least visit the beach, but check out on the way. A Note here about the hours of the reception/store, they open at 10am and close at 5pm, not good hours for travellers.
As we checked out we were not really comfortable with the reception, we reported the blocked shower and the internet not working. Obviously not information they were interested in hearing, we were asked if we were packed and ready to check out. "Hey it is only 10:30am" check out time is not until 12pm. Not the usual friendly KOA reception.
We headed out and set off to the beach, we found it, and at last it was a real beach, it had great sand, and waves, small, but waves, we walked down to the waters edge and paddled in the Atlantic Ocean, the water was actually warm and very tempting to stay around. The stopper was the RV park not being real inviting, we walked the beach a little and absorbed the relaxed ambience of water and sand.
We headed back to the Castle and drove along the front street of the Virginia Beach and surrounds.
We headed to the nearest Super Wal Mart and stocked up had lunch and set sail for Charlottesville, to visit some more history, Thomas Jefferson's house at Monticello, (this was recommended as a must see by Karisue's boss Alan).
The drive was comfortable and the weather is sunny and nice, with tree lined roads along relaxed country side.
We arrived at the KOA to be greeted with a welcome we are used to in this chain or Camps, as opposed by yesterdays KOA at Virginia Beach.
Yep we are back online and hopefully you will forgive our late postings.
