Day 124 New City Return to Plattekill
After the evening out we were a little slower to get up and about today.
We did the breakfast thing, packed our gear, and headed out for the shuttle bus. Certainly we cannot complain about the frequency of this mode of transport, yet the safety is another question.
The guy managed to take off while we were not completely seated and managed to throw Rick onto the floor near the back as Earnie and Karon were thrown into their seats that they were poised over to sit in.
Never mind no harm done, just hang on tight. We arrived in the city with no further hassles and unloaded, again outside the actual terminal. We took the wrong direction towards the Grand Central Station (we had abandoned our maps by this stage). We asked for directions and found ourselves looking at Penn station, (must be our accent!)
Never mind a few questions asked again and we retrace about ¾ of a mile to find our station
We managed to board the train with 2 minutes to spare and had a good ride back home to our Castle. The train had a slow section with the reason given as, an Amtrak train running ahead of us, then an emergency stop not long before our station, this time 4 people were wandering about on the tracks, Appeared to be photographing the old fort or Castle we had spotted on the inward journey, not a real healthy option walking along rail tracks that are in use, taking photos, but we guess it takes a lot of different people to complete this world.
A cab ride home and break the Castle out of Storage, time for washing and a relaxed afternoon and a catch up of the blog.
Will we revisit New York city? Definitely a place that can be visited on more than one occasion and enjoyed and discover new stuff to absorb.
Well the number plates (Tags) have yet to arrive, after we were told they would be dispatched to us 4 days ago, so we have to sort that problem before we leave tomorrow, as well we have to pick a destination going forward. Hopefully the nasty rain and storms, being the tail end of one of the hurricanes to hit this country in rapid succession in the last few weeks, will have changed tracks and we will continue to enjoy the great weather we have thus far enjoyed on our journey.
