Day 102 London - Niagara Falls Canada
Just a short run for the travellers today, around 160 miles and 3 hours. Mandy proved her investment once again by allowing us to re-route from the blocked slow freeway to a relatively similar distance and good straight forward road.
We checked into the office of the Kao, (we had booked prior) and then set up and had lunch.
A shuttle bus leaves outside the KOA to take us downtown Niagara, every 30 minutes for an all day fee of $6.
So we hop on the 1:30pm shuttle and head into the famous landmark.
Well our view of the falls has done nothing to dissipate our "addiction to waterfalls" but these ones are in a class of their own.
The border between USA and Canada runs in the middle of the river and the falls are broken one section in the USA and the horseshoe section ( the most impressive) being in Canada.
It is a Sunday and the crowds are huge but the set up to walk along and view and the parklands are extremely well done.
We take a few photos and then head for the boat ride on the "Maid of The Mist" (there are 4 boats) We line up and complete the queuing system to receive our blue poncho coats.
Then pile on board.
Words are inadequate to describe the sensations and feelings as this boat takes us up towards the falls and to experience the sounds and the wetness of the spray as the boat noses itself into the turmoil of the spray and falls, to what appears to be the toe of the falls, with the water boiling with immense power around the boat.
Did we get wet? YES but hey that is just part of the experience of being at Niagara Falls!
We climbed off that boat thoroughly satisfied with the trip and experience.
This took us to the next part of the Niagara options, a trip behind the falls. Karon is ready to face the falls

Again we line up to flow with the crowds, this time to be issued with Yellow ponchos, and down into the depths we descend to come out into the tunnels created for this view of the falls. The tunnels run in behind the falls with two portals tunnelled out to behind the falls, the view is a huge sheet of water that is impossible to see through and the spray is certainly makes the yellow poncho work hard!
There is also an access tunnel taking us out to a platform outside to the edge of the falls. The thunderous noise and the spray and awesome sight of looking up at the tons of water continuously dropping over this edge really is an experience beyond the ability to describe, yet again.
We walked out and around and viewed the falls again from the upper angles and then decided our senses were at over load, so time to head back home, leaving the other bus routes for tomorrow to explore more of this area.
