Day 81 Washington - Idaho - Montana
Gee the Castle managed to be in three States in one day, How good is that?
No we were not "Racing across" it simply worked out that way.
We chose a route to take us to the Montana National Park Glacier, this takes us across the border of Washington State to the top end of Idaho then on to Montana.
The roads a very good in comparison to the tougher challenges we faced up in the Yukon/Alaska regions and sections of our journey.
The first stop for morning tea was at a small lake beside the road (highway 95) in Idaho north East. Earnie assisted a couple of people rowing their boat back to the dock, they had given up in attempting to catch the big rainbow trout, the weed in the lake fouled the propeller and prevented them from moving, as well a bit of wind was lifting
Head on and up towards the highway 2 just short of the Canadian border, to take us across into Montana.
The pass through was not a challenge at all in fact was 70mph speed limit most of the way (no we didn't run at that speed in the Castle!) we came across a sign advertising the Kootenai falls and swinging bridge, we have mentioned before we have become a little keen or addicted to viewing falls or rapids.
We haul over and head through the woods, the track took us over a railway track and then descended towards the river. The view of the falls was well worth the stop and effort of the walk, again another different aspect of water squishing through some ancient water ways with the earth having lifted to create the falls, would make a great Rafting trip (if you are game enough)
The trip forward took us into some open country and down into a town called Kalispell, this was a wonderful town as far as Karon is concerned. We required some bread and drove around a shopping centre to attempt to find a supermarket, to no avail but hey there is a Costco across the road let's try there. We haven't been in one of them before, well again more learning for the travellers, we head into this huge warehouse type shop with extra large shopping trolleys, and people lining up with large quantities of goods, never mind lets head in and sort this out
Never mind out we go and ask one of the young ladies gathering the trolleys, "oh go to Target across the road, they sell bread" YES of course why didn't we think of that?
So we head into Target and yes they have groceries as well as frozen products and the "usual" Target stuff we are used to seeing. We find the bread and Earnie has picked up a bit of a cold so some cold drugs were required.
No Problem until we get to the check out, the young (approx 18y/o ) male check out operator asked Karon for ID to prove she is over 18. Well gee did that make her day, she is floating around thinking the hair cut and girls stuff done in Bellingham is well worth it!
She didn't even come back to earth when the check out operator said " we have to ask everyone"
Never mind Karon will crow we are sure for a while. We head out the highway and find our present home a KOA (gee they are situated at convenient time slots along the road) and we settle down and catch up on a few phone calls.
Great to talk to the few we managed to get hold of, please understand we are limited in making contact and the time taken to speak to a few takes us to fairly late at night, if you don't get a call it doesn't mean we are not thinking of you all.
