Day 79 Concrete to Grand Coulee
Well at last a real sleep in! We didn't get up until 8:15am, had breaky and rolled the Castle out onto the 20, this journey is every day an opening to wonder at the learning and joy we are getting, just being free to choose a road and a pathway, this one takes us through the Cascades, and Earnie summed it up in a few words (not that we know him of being a man of many words) but we stopped at a dam and some waterfalls and his words were as he craned his neck back to look up at the mountains, "They truly are majestic! You look up at that and compare it with Kosciusko it is so huge" (mind you we are already half way up the pass through the mountains.
From there we travelled along through the high country and through the pass to stop for lunch at an old western style town with boardwalks and all, called Winthrop, we walked the town observing a lot of "modern day cowboys on Harleys in the town" and had lunch and moved on to be passed by two Sheriffs cars heading into the town with sirens wailing, We hope the Cowboys were not staging a shootout in the main street, taking a route through an Indian Reservation area to stop here tonight at Grand Coulee . The dam over the Columbia river originating from the Columbia glacier we had visited in Canda,  is the biggest supplier of Electricity in the USA and also supplies irrigation water to an immense area. We are planning a visit to the electrical generation tour tomorrow after having our appetites tickled by watching a movie in the information centre, The facts associated with this dam started in 1934 to 1942 is a testament to firstly a visionary president Theodore D Roosevelt and also the tenacity and strength of the American people. Look up the information online because to describe it all here would maybe take long.
Ok we are a little behind loading up the last couple of days, mainly because the time has been spent attempting to rest the physical bodies, we are also suffering some more IT challenges, especially in the email section of the computer, (it is not being allowed to access our email server for whatever reason)  as well the photos will not download from the camera, please be patient, we are "Working on the solutions.
Take care as we head east and draw new lines on the map.
