Day 68 Watson Lake to Stewart BC
We are retracing steps taken before along trails we have been, but the reason is to view the elusive salmon and this is the route we hope to see them.
Mind you Rick and Karon were offered a job at the Rv park (Typical Rick!) they could have started today and the owner wanted to go away for a couple of weeks, but the option was not taken.
The owner (Archie) is interested in giving us turn next year for a month if we are interested. Certainly interesting to have a job and then maybe head out to Alaska or do some fishing for salmon/trout in Canada. Time to think about the option!
We set off after pumping up a tyre that appeared to be down a little, but with no gauge it was not possible to check them all.
This time we managed to observe, 3 bears, (one up to it's haunches in water, a fair distance from the road, but Eagleye Marian spotted it) also a family group of Foxes (2 adults and 3 pups), a porcupine, a beaver and at LAST Danial we have seen a BIG HORNED SHEEP, no wonder you didn't see it, it is up in British Columbia not down near the Hoover dam!
The fun part of the journey today was not only did we experience all those wonderful wildlife creatures along our drive, we also had to cash in some insurance we took out in respect to the RV.
If you recall we bought a jack and a tyre brace and chocks for the wheel before we travelled the "Famed Top of The World" highway.
Well Earnie heard a "different" sound coming from the wheels, we stopped for some gas and checked the tyres, YEP you guessed it, the inside tyre on the rear was flat.
Great, we used the new gear and changed the wheel, of course the tyre may not be worth much as we attempt to trade it in tomorrow, one side is showing wire stuff and needs a rather large band aid, (not sure if Duct tape will help). Never mind we have travelled 8000 miles and this is the first tyre.
The views back into Stewart have improved if possible, the weather was fine and the mountain with the snow and the trees and lakes is just beautiful.
We stopped again at the first glacier we posted a picture last time, to capture it again with the sun and to allow Marian to enjoy the view in real time.
We plan tomorrow to have a new tyre put on and head out to the salmon viewing platform, then on towards the Canadian Rockies.
Catch you out there.
