Day 53 Anchorage Alaska
The Trip from Valdez to Anchorage being a trip of 300miles was estimated to be around 6 hours, we packed up and retrieved the frozen fish and set forth in the Castle.
The trip out was a nice trip with a dry road and some blue sky appearing occasionally.
It enabled us to stop at a couple of photo shoots  of  the waterfalls and vistas of the glaciers and mountains with barren tundra leading to the mountains.
The driving was again shared and it was a simple drive to Anchorage, with the surprise of a freeway entrance road, this took us all by surprise after the bouncy, bumpy roads leading into the State as well as the other places we had been in during this visit to this State.  We have noticed compared to Canada and the rest of the USA, a sad lacking of rest stops to take a break after the driving turns, maybe this will be rectified at some point for future travellers The Bridal Falls on the road from Valdez

We are happy to have booked into the RV site, because it appears very full, mind you we are only 20 yards from the railway track and the first train crossing is outside the park entrance, obviously they are USA train drivers and the train whistle is a blowing about a mile out and a continuous whistle as it approaches the crossing and the vibration of the train should rock us to sleep in the "less light period" at maybe 11:30pm, hopefully they have a curfew on trains! GEE who picked this park (the writer is keeping very quiet at this time shhh)
Also we have discovered there is a military base here (apparently 60% of the population is attached to the military in some form or other, but they also have some very fast and LOUD airplanes doing some lovely displays of precision flying, but gee do they have to do it to show off to the train below?
Oh well all part of the fun of choosing an RV park from the prepared adverts.
Tomorrow we have a tidy up of the Castle and it will be time to pick Marian up.
We spoke with her last night and the battle she has had to get here must have been a challenge. Apparently Qantus cancelled her flight from Sydney to LA so she had to rebook through Brisbane and get her shuttle bus at 3:30am to catch the flight to Bne then onwards to LA, she then has to catch one to Anchorage, Hopefully this all falls into place for her, she will certainly have achieved a lot to get here and guess will be fairly travel worn.
We plan to have a couple of quiet days and hire a car to look around south of Anchorage and then we are off to Brooks Falls for the bear viewing.
Thank you all that are following our trip, it is nice to know people care enough to view our travels, we are amazed to receive 1000 hits this month, thank you
Catch up tomorrow.
