Day 49 Alaska - Yukon
Last evening we did a bit of a sort out of a program going forward, to allow us an understanding of travel times and "Things to do" and "Places to see".
We had left some rolls of film to be developed over night and also we wanted to rebook into the RV park as well as book a day trip by boat to Juneau.
This being done and filling with gas at the only gas station in town, we hit the road again.
The trip out gave us one stop at a suspension bridge over the Yukon river, and then onward we rolled. We stopped for lunch at Carcross, a small turn of the century town.
From there it was a good run into White horse with Karon spotting a brown bear up off the side of the road, Again the clue was another parked RV on the road with hazard lights flashing, but we were past before it was realized that they were looking at a bear and Karon managed to glimpse it as we went past
We pulled into Whitehorse to restock with some more food,(items that weren't available in Skagway) , a quick re-assessment of driving times and we chose to hook up here for the night.
The membership of the Good Sam RV club has well and truly paid for itself with the discounts received thus far, this is also a good Sam park.
We are becoming lucky to obtain sites as the parks are filling up quite quickly, this being a better type of park would attract more RV's at an earlier time.
The weather is warm here compared to back in Skagway where the wind felt as though it was straight off the snow mountains, and I guess that is exactly what it is with the fjord/harbour acting as a wind tunnel.
We are comfortably sitting in the Castle having a cuppa, hopefully Rick can find a hot spot to post the entry and receive any emails.

The bear choose the pose NOT the photographer
