Day 26 Salt Lake City
A lot warmer place to sleep so that is a bonus!
We had booked a free shuttle bus to take in the live broadcast of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, the pick -time was 8:45am.
Earnie had checked the dress code with the information person last night, this prepared us to dress "correctly" (long pants and of course Earnie & Rick were not really allowed to wear their short skirts!
Off we go in the shuttle bus to Temple Square, the centre of the world Mormon Church of Latter Day saints.
The Auditorium is nothing short of impressive. It seats 21,000 people with no view obscured by columns. With three levels of seating and two balconies, facing a huge organ (7600 pipes) and choir seating for the 360 voice choir Day 26 Salt Lake City

.
The presentation included a trombone group present for a world trombone competition. ( little out of Rick's league. He used to play a trombone) as well as a solo organ and a harp/flute). This was an extremely impressive performance, enjoyed by us all. I mention here that is a live broadcast that is the longest running live broadcast in the world, 79 years.
From this we were given a tour of this wonderful building and across the road to tour the auditorium and other facilities of the faith.
We found a place for lunch and while we were eating we spoke to a group of NZer's doing a  3 months car tour. They informed us about the FREE tram service, so of course this suits Earnie and Rick, We left the lunch and caught the next tram (Train in USA language) we hopped on heading in one direction with no idea of the end result. All was going well until the announcement came over that to continue on would require a valid paid ticket, we were leaving the free ride area.
Gee time to alight, and caught the next one back to the end of the line, back a short way to the one open shopping area on a Sunday in Salt Lake City.
We wandered around for a time checking prices etc, then caught the tram back to the free shuttle bus and home.
A lovely relaxed (and CHEAP ) day with a catch on the phone (when possible) and a sing HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Jodee. Hope you had a great day Jodee!
Well tomorrow we head to Nevada to a place between here and Reno. Depends how we feel at the time
