Day 11 - 17th May 2008.
Well I am not sure if Earnie appreciated his wake up call with Karon & Rick opening the day to Happy birthday to you in "harmony" (yeah sure!)
But is Earnie's 72nd birthday and he is living a long held dream in doing an RV tour of the USA.
It is a day to relax and chill out. (mind you the temp is anything but cold, but the pool is only about 40 metres away. We have had a swim in the morning and plan another in the arvo.
Rick has let the team down in establishing the communications from the outside world. IE; the television only worked ok on one channel and the DVD player didn't kick in at all. (We bought a DVD yesterday called RV. I am sure this has been watched by many except us. We received a recommendation to watch it and with Robin Williams in it I am sure it will prove to be a depictation of us poor Aussies exploring this big land.
Well we will have to wait and see.
It was set up the Set top Box (STB) and the dish today. Gee it sounded simple yesterday when the guy explained it all at 2,200 words per minute. BUT I guess you also have to have the TV that is working and showing pictures. At some point in time some one might explain to me why the letters of the words are used without an explanation as to what they represent. EG: STB = Set top box (that much I worked out. ) what is, LNB, RF, Modular RCA jacks etc. It goes on and on in some language invented at some point in the galaxy by some unusual thinking beings!
Earnie completed his task extremely well (mind you we bought a tool bag and some pliers and screw drivers yesterday so he is now not to badly done by!) and had the dish set up on the tri pod before Rick had a picture showing on the tele. (gee where is Adam when Rick needs him?) I said to the team all I missed to recall was to get Adam to come along for the IT support, I figure with Earnie and his tool kit and Adam with the IT support we wouldn't have any maintenance for Rick to wreck, on the way around. Oh well if that is all that I have forgotten then we will manage I guess.
Back to the solution for the tele and satellite dish
Rick wandered over to Joe's RV (he has a dish set up already! J and asked for help.
Joe gave me a number of a guy that will come out to fix it.
Solved! And gee it is only costing Rick $13. When questioned why it was only $13 by Earnie the answer was simple. I am paying $13 Earnie is paying $13 and Karon can pay $14 (just cause she is the financial controller) so that makes up the $40. I was always good with maths!!
We are sit around and wait until he turns up and eat and snooze. GEE another swim? Oh ok.
From the California sun. Hi to everyone.

Trifle
Glad to see the trifle worked out, after your funny experience in the supermarket trying to work out the exchange rate (for words)... Any glad to pop enjoyed it and had a good B'day. Glad to see your technical expertise hasn't changed. Loved Sarah and the boys.
