Day 8 - 14th May 2008
Today started at a reasonable time and we had a "normal Aussie breaky" Cornflakes and milk in the bowls we took into the hotel from The Castle.
We loaded up our gear into The Castle and checked out.
I guess this means we are "on the road"
We headed down to the Target car park and proceeded to put things into some sort of order in the Castle.
That was fun just working the things into the little nooks and crannies we could find.
The first break down was the hydraulic strut for the bed where we stowed the suitcases. It wouldn't go back down.
Oh well a solution was found.
Rick went to the 0.99c store and bought a set of screw drivers and some other bargains!! Wow these a re great stores just ideal for Earnie and Rick (& Karon who has joined the seniors idea of saving funds) We Removed the strut!! Problem solved.
We then went through Target and bought a toaster and headed to the RV camp.
It was time to by some GAS (petrol in real terms) and the team is still debating if Earnie will partake of that exercise again or not. I am sure his heart was stretching a muscle as the GALLONS ticked up and the COST to fill was reaching the $150 mark. We will update you on the decision as we progress on the trip. J
In we went and a lot of help from Joe to reverse park into our site and as can be seen by the photos we are set up.
We sat down to good old Tomato, ham and cheese sandwich, I don't believe they have ever tasted so good.
So the afternoon was spent relaxing, rick updating the GPS and sorting the IT stuff and Karon and Earnie taking time out to read or check out the bits and bobs on the RV.
We have to report that we have worked everything out that turns on or off except the Generator because we are not allowed to run it whilst in the park.
The Aircon works as does the heater. A couple of goes to sort out the hot water and the water pump but I believe we are now experienced Rver's.
So enjoy the day as we have and we plan to head out to use the 2nd day pass at Disneyland and then "On the Road again" to Universal Studios where there is another RV park handy.
Great we move The Castle to wherever we want and the cost saving on hotel/motels is already a bonus. J
