10th May 2008. -  Day 4

This was a day to drive to Santa Monica area to have a look at the famous beaches.
The first area was Malibu.

We did a U turn in a flash Malibu suburb to allow us to view the beaches.

Disappointed plus! because Olivia was away in China and I was unable to have the coffee she had offered, maybe next time!

The first car park was Malibu beach but because we were not going to the restaurant we were advised to travel further south to the pier area at Santa Monica.

This was an interesting part or piece of history for this area.

The next beach down was Venice beach where the, how do I put this? World of really interesting characters appear to gather.

I hope the photos depict the experience

I was not completely safe taking a photo of one guy that had a cardboard sign written, "I will work 4 marijuana (lol Rick had to spell check that one!!)
We did come across a group of guys that were not only athletic but entertaining as well.
Not sure if the photos came out. But gee they kept us entertained for a while.

When they finished we decided it was time to find our way home.  Add to here the simple fact that travelling along those freeways at 70+ miles per hour (or in our terms 112 kmph) which is not to bad EXCEPT there are around 4-6 lanes of traffic! And they approach from so many different directions and a lot from the WRONG side. Never mind  "I survived"  (gee is that another song?)
This was by the use of Harriett (the chosen name for the GPS) I must add here that She can be a wonderful navigator if you do as she says but a real harlot when you take the wrong turn.

We did arrive home in time to ready ourselves for the Medieval Experience.
Again a first for Rick but a repeat for the other travellers.
We had booked BUT as we found out this doesn't make a lot of difference in this world of the USA!.
We arrived and proceeded to the line in, and we were told that "our seats or reservation was taken by someone that had arrived and paid before we got there.
Gee now that was a challenge!
The interchange was interesting, and Earnie had to explain "If you don't mind me saying, you are Bloody rude!"
A little diplomacy stepped in to settle the interchange and we were asked to wait for 15 - 20 mins to see whether they could fit us in.

Gee it happened! We were directed to the ticket booth and received upgraded tickets in the Blue knights section with extras.
No matter our knight was beaten we enjoyed the evening anyway.
Came home again worn out and Rick attempted to "fix" the blog.
  Then some sleep!
We have managed to sort the correct order and upload photos so check out the site/blog and feel free to leave a comment.
