Our purpose for visiting Kalbarri was to see some of Kalbarri National Park.

Kalbarri lies at the mouth of the Murchison River and is another popular tourist destination. It's a very pretty place that reminded us a lot of the south coast NSW fishing villages.

We were pleasantly surprised to find that some of the wildflowers were still out and the majestic grass trees were in abundance.

The Murchison runs through the heart of Kalbarri N P and has carved a gorge through the sedimentary sandstone, creating some striking colour contrasts. The two lookouts we visited were "Nature's Window" at the Loop, which overlooks Murchison Gorge, and Z Bend Lookout, which offers some beautiful scenery. The river has forged a path, creating a definite "Z" in the cliffs on either side.
