We headed from Purnululu National Park towards Fitzroy Crossing. We stopped for fuel at Hall's Creek. The only toilet in town was a special "self-cleaning" number, as all the others were backed up. Without going into too much detail, you had a time limit to do what you had to do, as an alarm could sound at any time alerting the occupant to evacuate. Even the toilet paper had to be dispensed automatically - 1 sheet at a time! It was the strangest thing to see in an outback town...
Geiki Gorge, near Fitzroy Crossing was a lovely surprise. Our photos have not done the place any justice. The white marks on the rock faces indicate the high water mark in the wet season. The information centre at the gorge has recorded the heights of all floods over the years. In 2002 it reached 2m above the roof of the visitor's centre and its roof pitch was probably 4-5m!
