Following on from our last entry, we returned to Port Hedland, as the service guy at Nissan assured us that he would plug the diagnostic tool into the car and check it out before we continued down the coast.
This messed up our plans, as we'd planned to head across to Tom Price and check out Hammersley Gorge and then head to Exmouth. But the car was much more of a priority, so we did the sensible thing.
The Nissan service guy said that the computer had definitely logged a fuel problem, but couldn't explain why the computer had re-set itself. All appeared to be normal, so we headed down the long coast road.
The other way would definitely have been the better option, as the drive was monotonous; we drove all the way to Fortiscue Roadhouse (350km) into a headwind.
The one little treat along the way was the Whim Creek Hotel. It really is in the middle of nowhere, but it has a great history, being almost destroyed by a cyclone in 1999. The owners sought refuge in a shipping container until the storm abated!
The hotel is used by the major mining companies for accommodation. It's a real little community in the middle of the desert.
