Our one regret as we headed south for Katherine was not stopping at Adelaide River. Apparently the mangoes are literally weighing down the tree branches and they were ripe for the picking. We didn't discover this until we were in Nitmiluk National Park (Katherine Gorge).

We had a brief stop and swim at lesser known Leliyn (Edith Falls). We're still not very brave when it comes to signs saying "Swim at your own risk. Estuarine crocodiles may enter these waters undetected." So we always look to see if there are enough tourists to act as potential bait and then consider our odds. A short 1km hike got us to the upper pool; even more picturesque than the lower section. Also our swimming preference, as crocs don't seem to climb mountains and rock!

Katherine Gorge was a big highlight. We discovered a caravan park right where the tours depart. We enjoyed a tour of 3 gorges (there are 13 altogether). Russell, our guide is Jawoyn, one of the traditional landowners. He was extremely interesting and informative and gave the whole experience tremendous credibility. The second gorge is the most photographed, in particular, Kings Canyon.
