Today I did some laundry - the boat had washing machines and dryers! We
got level with Australia today and at about noon we were three quarters
up the coast. From my chat with the Chief Officer on the Bridge I'd
learned that we stay about 100 miles out as we head South to Fremantle.
That means you can't see the coast as visibility is 20 miles in good
weather. More facts from the Bridge - we travel at 20 knots doing about
600 miles per 24 hours. The boat had 1600 containers on board and would
discharge 500 in Fremantle and pick up none. I was told that our
estimated arrival time had was still tomorrow (the 26th) at around 6pm.
I actually went back up to the bridge today and met the third mate, he
was one of the more quiet of the officers but once I had him on his own
he was more chatty and his English was good too.
