On Sunday I took a taxi to a beach near to Kuantan. It is called Teluk Chempedak and is a favourite retreat for the locals. A beach in a Muslim country is a little different than most around the world. There are no bikinis, even the men keep there shirts on and no one was sunbathing! Everyone was spending their time in the cafes or under shade from trees. There weren't too many western tourists around (as in Kuantan) and it was all very relaxed.
There were some nice walks around the place and I found a sun lounger at a nearby hotel resort and spent a couple of hours in the sun, very nice.
Later on in Kuantan I left my bag and valuables in an internet cafe and got back to my hotel without it. As soon as I realised what I had done I sprinted the whole way back and I don't think I'd shifted that quickly since my athletics days! It was still there but I gave myself a scare in the process. That is the bag that is so valuable I wouldn't leave it in the hotel room!
Tomorrow I should be able to sort out my yellow fever vaccination. I definitely wouldn't have stayed so long in Kuantan if there wasn't this to sort out.
